COFaQue Barbeque Competition and Music Festival
~ August 12th, 13th and 14th, 2011 ~
This private party is a charity fundraiser produced by the fine folks
at Hands On Events, Inc., an entertainment events services
company benefiting the non-profit community.
This party started back in 1999 and is now one of the biggest, non-sanctioned barbeque competitions in the Washington Metro area. We pride ourselves on throwing what some say is the best party of the year.
Location: The Lake at Quail Ridge, General Admission Gates open Friday at 5:00pm and Saturday at 9:00am COFaQue is a BYOB, RAIN or SHINE event. ~ NO DOGS ALLOWED ~ FAQ's What does COF stand for? Circle of Friends Will there be beer there? COFaQue is a BYOB event. Please drink responsibly. Can I/Should I, bring my Kids? Yes, there is ample entertainment for children provided throughout the day. COFaQue is a very family-friendly event. This year, we are encouraging parents to bring one white tee shirt for each child to tye-dye. Can I bring Fireworks? No, absolutely not!!! Can I bring my dog? No, absolutely not!!! What can I do to help? There are many opportunities to help the COFaQue, you can compete in the BBQ competition or you could be a BBQ Judge! COFaQue has other volunteer opportunities that require a smaller time commitment -- just visit the Volunteer Sign-up page for more information.
Can I bring my fishing pole? No fishing, sorry. If you plan on Competing in COFaQue, here is some additional information: How do I enter my team in the event? Click on the Competitors link or go to www.bbqsignup.com and just tell us you want to be a part of the fun, give us your team name, some info and we will do the rest. Do I have to tell what I’m cooking? Nope, not to sign up. Will there be electricity? Short answer is No. Long answer is electricity is NOT allowed for cooking, warming, prep or serving. If you provide your own electricity, you may use that for decorations or lights at the cook site. Additionally, COFaQue does not offer electrical hook-up for campers. How much food do I need to plan on cooking? Cook to compete & Cook to give away if you are able, but it is not required. Lots of people will want to try what you are cooking so make enough to share; it makes for a better party. Do I have to pre-register? Yes, we need to know how many teams will be competing so we can ensure that enough cook sites are available. Cook sites will be assigned by lottery on Friday afternoon. See the Rules page for more information. Pre-registration is available by going to www.bbqsignup.com. Can I build a fire on the ground? No, absolutely not!!! What do I do with trash/recyclables? We will have dumpsters on site as well as Recycling and Trash barrels throughout the event. Please recycle all plastic, glass and aluminum whenever possible.
